But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.
We have done a list of names of God in the past and the names for Jesus are many, too many to list here but what about the names for the Holy Spirit?
Doing an internet search for what others think about that question led to a short list from several different sources and they do not all agree. That is fine, they have a right to their opinion but I found it strange that none of the four web pages explored included Helper.
Here Jesus Himself calls the Holy Spirit the Helper. He gives an indication that the Helper teaches us but does not call Him Teacher. The Helper brings memory into focus but we don’t have a name for someone who does that.
When I think of Helper I cannot help but remember back to God creating Eve for Adam, his rightful helpmate.
Now Father God did not create the Holy Spirit, He is God and was always with Father God from before the beginning of time.
praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,
How do we pray in the Spirit? I don’t know. Help me Father God to understand.
Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.
The wonderful thing about God our Helper is that even in our weakest moments He does not let important things go undone.
I find comfort in believing by faith that God is not dependent on me to see His will done, even if it is something I should be praying about. The Help takes over for us like any good helper would do in loving relationships. The Helper is God and He loves us.
