Individuals

Matthew 19:11 But he said unto them, All men cannot receive this saying, save they to whom it is given.

One of the aspects of fellowship is unity, finding agreement. The building of community is important, but we are still after all individuals. Jesus treats us as individuals and does not put the same demands on all His servants.

I see things a certain way. Can all be expected to see it my way? No. God has given me a calling and certain gifts according to His purpose and design. Only those who share my calling and purpose should be expected to understand as I understand, as I receive it.

There is however a tendency to share in hopes of discovering others who possess the same calling. It stops us from feeling alone in a crowd. We must be careful not to put on others things which they are not meant to receive.

Basics, fundamentals, those things which are foundational truths which all must share are enough to maintain fellowship. In my past history I have witnessed divisions with a church body based on the gifts and callings. Cliques formed within the church body may be left over tendencies from high school, but they have no part in the body of Christ.

As individuals we bring a part of Christ to the body which is unique in treatment, but it is still Christ, it is still the power of the Holy Spirit working to serve the whole. We are all needed.

1 Corinthians 1:24-26 For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked. That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another. And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.

The same care, love the common denominator.

  1. WOW, I hope every reader can grab hold of this one. I have seen fellowships destroyed because individuality was not appreciated and every one was pressed into the same mold. I thank my Lord that He has made us all different. Like that many facets of a diamond, we all shine with a different reflection of the glories of Christ, but are part of the whole. Loved your message this morning.

  2. Go ahead, I will turn my head so I can’t catch you at it. Glad you enjoyed it. I thank my Lord for all the work that you put into these messages. May our Lord continue to give you the Spirit led material and the strength and clarity to keep writing. Thank you dear brother.
