Romans 12:1-3 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
If there a matter of just mind renewal I could have quote verse 2 alone but it is not. First there must be a sacrifice of your own thinking. Your mind is part of your body and subject to sacrifice just as much as the remainder of self. Before we came to Christ our thoughts were already full of error. We have to overcome erroneous thinking with truth.
Secondly you will want to know God’s will and that can only be accomplished by removing errors in thinking. We all come into His kingdom with some kind of preconceptions and it is never what we thought it would be. Even children who have been brought up in the Word will find that when they receive the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth, mom and dad, grampa or grandma, teacher or tutor, did not have the same grasp of truth as God does.
John 14:16-17 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
