Song of Solomon 2:4-5 He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love. Stay me with flagons, comfort me with apples: for I am sick of love.
Have you ever eaten too much of a food you love? As much as I love fried clams I overdo it when the rare opportunity comes my way. I eat myself sick. That doesn’t stop me from loving fried clams.
These verses are my feeble attempt at trying to explain what is happening to me this week. I am at the end of my devotionals about my Emmaus Walk 1807. I have no more side notes. I have nothing else the Lord impressed upon me about that experience. It has been a good week but it is time to move on. As much as I would love to maintain this high, I cannot.
We express ourselves as being full of His love, but in truth most of us are not. His love is not ours to keep and cherish within ourselves. It is meant to be shared, just as I have shared my experience. Every experience has its limits, just like my love of clams. After too much consumption you just cannot take it anymore.
Luke 24:28 And they drew nigh unto the village, whither they went: and he made as though he would have gone further.
Hidden here within the Emmaus story line is this connective tissue, Jesus was ready to move on. His love is tireless. I am the Cup, HisCup, I get poured out and need to be refilled. I am not tireless, I get tired. I can be emptied and require refilling. I’ve exhausted this theme and the Lord has moved on.
SoS 2:9-10 My beloved is like a roe or a young hart: behold, he standeth behind our wall, he looketh forth at the windows, shewing himself through the lattice. My beloved spake, and said unto me, Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away.
I am here Lord, where are we going today?
A heart felt and wonderful post this morning. Our Lord Jesus will probably invite you to come with Him into the “desert place and rest a while”. Mark 6:31. To be alone with Jesus, is to have our day as the “days of heaven upon earth”. Deuteronomy 11:21. Enjoy your time alone with Him…..I sure do. Thank you for sharing your walk with Jesus with us, and you will have great memories for yourself.
