Exodus 3:10 Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt.
This why is obvious! God chose Moses to set his people free. Are all motives this clear?
Numbers 22:7 And the elders of Moab and the elders of Midian departed with the rewards of divination in their hand; and they came unto Balaam, and spake unto him the words of Balak.
What is the motive here? Who is the author of the motive? Why would the rewards of divination even be a consideration if this prophet Balaam was intimate with the mind of God? Can you see the who and the where are contributing factors into the why? Not all motives are as clear as the case with Moses.
Why is so often attributed to the personal character of an individual. Are you what you do? I do not mean your profession. Are you a narcissist if you are vain about your appear or just insecure? If you can relate to what someone says, does that mean they are just like you? No, people are more complicated than their words and actions.
I have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Often I would not even understand what I was doing because of it. The why became important because it was driving unconscious behavior. It is not who I am but I was doing it in spite of myself. Not everyone realizes how their words and actions look to other people. Now that we are Christians and serve our God, it matters. What we do and say reflects on His name.
There are other stressors besides PTSD. Many of them we deal with alone silently and that ought not to be. Who knows you intimately? Who do you open up to and share your burdens? Remember helps is one of the gifts of the spirit.
Now I ask; do I need to know all this to be saved?
Good insights. As usual, we’ll thought through. Thanks.
